Want to like the place but it is RUSTIC.
The owners are extremely helpful. But this is Nepal. By Nepali standards, this is likely a wonderful place but by Western standards, it is very rustic.

A find.
Owners ate terrific. Hand built room with sloped wood ceiling, Windows all around, beautiful reading-dining area. Lovely plants and open outside areas. Great price. Sophisticated owners aim to please. About 10 minutes hike to old city gate.
Interesting man made lake nearby.
A stay that begins with a warm, friendly welcome, tea, and great information about the area leads only to more happiness. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and clean. We loved the little sitting area, and the hot water, and water pressure from the shower was a dream. We made use of the library, and enjoyed an evening reading books.
Exceptional value for money in a setting where the host (Ajay) takes a great deal of trouble to help his guests. You have the opportunity to learn from someone who has always lived in Bhaktapur, who is extremely knowledgeable, sympathetic, and interesting.
Coming from the frenetic Kathmandu, Krishna House is the perfect peaceful getaway in historic Bhaktapur. The rooms are comfortable and clean and the breakfast is delicious.
Ajaya, the owner, is welcoming and very knowledgable about the area. He sat down with us and made some recommendations of what we can do in Bhaktapur and around, and went above and beyond in making us comfortable.
I highly recommend staying here if you get a chance, if not just to escape the bustle of Kathmandu then for the owner and the accommodation.
Thank you for having us Ajaya!
Arriving to Krishna House (KH) after a couple of days spent in Thamel, Kathmandu, one would find the tranquillity of KH as an amazing experience. Ajaya has been a very nice, attentive and knowledgeable host. He provides you with lots of information, advice, potential activities to consider and any other info you may think of.
Within walking distance from Bhaktapur centre, KH is a perfect “base” for discovering the city and surrounding area. The room has been spacious and clean. You just need to mind your head when entering/exiting the door if you happen to be a taller person...:)
You may only find a handful of tourist during the monsoon season who mainly visit this ancient city in a day trip from Kathmandu, thus missing out on great unconventional tourist attractions, such as hiking from nearby places easily accessible by local buses. Doing so you would bump into friendly locals, terraced rice fields, curious kids - consider having some pens handy for them.
Little sign of the aftermath of last year´s earthquake in Kathmandu Valley, so it is encouraging to spend more days in Bhaktapur. I would definitely recommend Krishna House for accommodation option.
A friend and I recently stayed at the Krishna House and had a pleasant stay. Ajay, the owner of Krishna House has all the information you need about Bhaktapur and if you have no clue what to see or how to get around all you have to do is ask him.
His wife cooks a scrumptious meal and we were so glad that we got an opportunity to have a typical home cooked Nepali lunch. The house is located close to the bus station and the Durbar Square (which is a relief if you are lugging heavy bags, like we were). There is an electricity problem in Bhaktapur, but the house has power backup so we didn't face any problem. All in all....we had a lovely stay with warm people and good food!
