The Taj Bentota is a very big hotel right in the beach. The pool area is spectacular with plenty of space and sunbeds. The breakfast is excellent with something for everyone. We didn’t have supper in any of the restaurants but did have some very good pool bar snacks and drinks. There are lots of excellent seafood restaurants just outside the hotel entrance gates, across the railway track. Overall I would definitely recommend the Taj Bentota and ALL the staff but especially the Duty Manager Mahinda.

Very good service, attention and service minded personell. They offered us late checkout so we could continue enjoying the pool and have a nice lunsj. Only think to point on is the sound proofing around the doors could be better.

Hospitality at its best in a world class resort

The property is in an incredible location with breathtaking views. Even though it’s on a public beach, it still felt super exclusive and private. The staff were absolutely amazing at making us feel welcome and taking care of us. The hospitality was top-notch fromthe duty manager, to every single staff member, including the restaurant staff who went above and beyond to pamper us. One of the chefs, was incredible. They made dishes that weren’t even on the menu, and they tasted way better than anything I’ve ever had before. In the end, they were the friendliest and most hospitable staff we’ve ever had, and they made our stay absolutely incredible.

Beautiful property with exceptional staff

A beautiful hotel with stunning views but what makes this hotel so exceptional is the staff. They are extremely attentive and friendly and go out of their way to ensure your stay is perfect. It was my birthday and I had my room decorated for me and two cakes delivered! I’m also pregnant and Sam, a waiter, ensured there was decaf coffee available for me. Gayan, our room attendant was brilliant and also made the best towel animals! Food was good, rooms are spacious, beds are comfy and swimming is big! Only thing id say, is that the gym could do with some aircon! Brilliant stay!!

My family ( 2 Adults , 1 infant , 1 kid ) loved the 5 night / 6 day stay at Taj Bentota for many reasons : - Quality of service was excellent . Sam , Nuwan , Ravindra at the Palms restaurant made sure we felt at home. Room Boy Gagan treated the kids with his artistic work every time he cleaned the room. - Exceptional food at the Palms restaurant. Chefs Paramesh and Dalip Singh prepared great Indian vegetarian food for us. They took extra efforts to make sure baby food for my infant was absolutely home like, every single day! Sri Lankan food suggested by Chef Dalip was top notch . - Fun activities kept us engaged . Aqua aerobics coach Janaka made sure we lost some calories gained at the Palms . Face painting & other kids activities kept them happy . - Clean water at the pool & easy beach access . - The tease bar had live music during the evenings while we sipped our drinks to pleasure. This place comes highly recommended from my family ! Happy vacationing !

Good location, right on the beach, the hotel feels old, the rooms are dated, not to a modern 5 star standard, but all made up due to the kitchen staff, especially Piyush the executive chef and Dalip, who took very extra care of us and made our stay special . Would definitely recommend it for the service. They made special vegan food for us, 5 stars to them.

Below average, not sure how is this a 5 star hotel. Very limited dining options, one restaurant serving only Indian food. Also avoid paying extra for the sea view room as you cannot see the sea at all, will attach a photo of the view.

It was Amazing in Taj Bentota I have not seen a executive person like Bentota FMB Manager In the morning breakfast there was big rush and surprisingly I saw him laying and cleaning the table. This Is quality of real CAPTAIN of the team 👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️ Truely inspiring his juniors. May request the Name of FMB manager for my diary

We got to the hotel late and we were given a room with a broken balcony door. The person who took us to the room had to struggle to open the balcony door for us therefore I asked was it broken and he said no it’s not and left the door open. I went to have a shower and my husband went to the balcony and the door got shut by the wind and he could not open the balcony door from outside to get back to the room even though it was not locked!!! He was knocking the door from the outside until I came out from the shower because I did not hear the knocking noise… It was round midnight that time therefore we went to bed because we were very tired from the travel that day and when we were leaving, made a complaint and asked the manager to fix the door lock as well as knowingly providing a room that was marked for repair was NOT GOOD and he agreed to investigate but not sure what he’s done up to now because we had no contact from the hotel up to now… I would have been worse if my husband was alone because he has stay until next morning for someone to notice he’s stuck in the balcony… Food and location were OK but nothing special. We weren’t treated VIP and in truth we were treated worse than a normal customer. Compared to Taj Samudra in Colombo, Sri Lanka I don't think I would give 2 out of 10 for this hotel
