"A wonderfully spacious suite and early breakfast. Much more affordable than downtown Portland. Very helpful staff. Easily made up for the surprise $17 parking fee. "

"The room was nice, a little small for what I was expecting. We booked a king room with a balcony. There were limited amenities in the room, super small mini fridge. We had to pay an extra $75 a night for potential damages, which would be nice to know before booking a non refundable room. We also did not get any room service until the last night we were there. They left us 2 towels in the hotel room, two towels for two people for two nights.. the hotel property itself is nice, with the two restaurants. The breakfast at the restaurant was gross but it was a cute place. I probably wouldn’t stay again. "

"We rarely leave negative reviews, but our stay at Comfort Suites Portland Southwest raised serious safety concerns that other travelers should be aware of. The lock on our room door malfunctioned to the point that the door could be pushed open from the outside even when it appeared secured. We have video documentation of the issue. Traveling with our 2-year-old child, this situation made us feel unsafe and extremely uncomfortable. We immediately reported the problem to hotel management. Staff acknowledged the issue but told us the lock could not be repaired and that no alternate rooms were available because the property was fully booked. We were left with no reasonable solution despite the obvious security risk. What is most disappointing is the hotel’s unwillingness afterward to take responsibility or provide a full refund. We worked through Hotels.com, and while they provided a small goodwill credit, the property itself declined to make us whole despite the documented safety issue. Maintenance problems can happen anywhere. However, failing to properly address a serious room security concern and expecting guests to absorb the full cost is, in our view, unconscionable. We encourage travelers to use caution when considering this property. Guest safety, security, and accountability should always come first."

"The Mark Spencer is not what it was. We have stayed here I think four times and the most recent visit likely will be our last. First kudos to the staff for being solicitous and very helpful. However our room was not cleaned well. We found an old soap wrapper in the bathroom, some lost headphones under the bed, and a spent coffee packet in the coffee maker filter basket. We didn't dare use any of the mugs or glasses in the room, some of which were visible dirty. Apparently the booking included a bottle of wine, which no one offered us. We didn't miss it but the principle of the matter is indicative. The breakfast options were nice to have but would have been better if the advertised fresh fruit had been available. We enjoyed a tasty breakfast sandwich but received it on an English muffin instead of the requested croissant. Not a huge deal but again, indicative of the attention being paid to details. Top notch drip coffee from Peru and a very good espresso helped. From check in to check out the staff uniformly were helpful and courteous. John greeted us out front upon arrival and when he learned that we were running late he most graciously helped us get our bags to our room, as we had to park across the street due to the garage being full. Easy parking which was nice. It saddens me to see what was a home-away-from-home fail to meet the standards we used to appreciate at this handsome old hotel."

"Room was very clean and very comfortable. We faced away from the street si it was quiet as well. Parking was fine. Breakfast was excellent. If you have mobility issues make sure you tell the staff at check in. There are no elevators here."

"Charge 50$ for a deposit and always had a reason why I couldn't get it back because of towel i used to clean up a full cup of coffee. And also a paw print of dirt. They did year twice. I'm a 64 year veteran. I know that I did a few things wrong also. I think the total amount was around 150$"
