Barossa hotel rooms a the Independent

"Simple and nice enough place to stay but not luxurious. Enjoyed having a sofa and a nice big room. But got eaten alive by Mosquitos coming in through big gap under the door - though they do provide bug spray. Motel was located at the top of the town so we drove down for dinner each night - as the bar was not open for 2/3 nights we stayed."

"The rooms are very old but comfortable and clean. There is a $200 bond we weren’t prepared for, but luckily had sufficient funds to cover it. Be aware though, if paid by credit card it can take a week to drop off your ‘pending transactions’ and being able to access to those funds again. Suggestion & Feedback:- There are no lights when making your way from the hotel dining area to the rooms. Have your phone flashlight at the ready. This a safety issue as the ground is uneven and sloping. Recommend Blue Gums install sensor lights."

"The reception staff were very approachable and helpful. The rooms were fantastic, comfortable and clean. Suggestions & Feedback:- Not all rooms have a toaster or microwave and Wotif doesn’t include an indication of what rooms are on ground level or have these. So best to check the actual venue information on their direct website first as they are at an increased rate if you need to change. You will also need to enquire if the shower is over/in a (disconnected) spa, if you require an accessible shower. I would enquire about daily room servicing/cleaning as there are some permanent residents and their rooms are not serviced daily. It appeared from when I approached (one) cleaning staff for more coffee and milk and to advise they did not need to make up my room, they thought I was a permanent resident by the response I received. The supervisor then approached the staff member admonishing her within earshot of me for providing me more coffee and milk. All bar one cleaning staff member were very approachable and helpful."

"Very nice and well maintained holiday park. Rooms were clean and fresh like a hotel. Spacious and had everything we needed. Would probably just recommend a pot upgrade and a couple more bowls but that’s being a bit more picky. Had 2 car spaces but our cars were too big to fit both of them in (SUV & Ute) but we spoke to management and they organised an alternative which was very helpful. Used the laundry and that was easy and cleaned my clothes well. Pool looked great and playground too but was too cold and wet for us to use. Felt very safe to walk around and people were very respectful so wasn’t noisy. "
