Courtyard Mt. Pleasant at Central Michigan University
6/10 Okay
"There was no free breakfast, which completely surprised me. That is usually a given these days. The room was a nice size and was well-appointed.
There was no maid service because we were only staying two nights. That was also unexpected.
We were looking forward to relaxing in the hot tub, but when we went in, a teenager with crocs on was in it, tons of thick foam, which was dirty as well. When we mentioned it at the front desk, we were told "that's just how it is," As someone who has traveled extensively, that is NOT how how tubs "just are."
Finally, while we had a great customer service experience our first night (help with a frozen tv system, and getting extra towels), the next evening we had rude service. We were in a deaf-accessible room by chance and the bright door alarm lights came on. We couldn't figure out how to turn them off. A staff member came up and eventually figured out that it was one of the light switches we hadn't seen. He abruptly left, letting the door slam shut as we were still talking to him. Overall, not the quality experience I expect from the Courtyard brand. "
"Window locks were broken, refrigerator was also broken, and so was the air conditioner. The shower rod was 2 seconds away from snapping off. Hair left in the shower, trash and ash on the bathroom floor. Wouldn’t recommend "
"Our king room was clean and spacious with a fold out sofa sleeper. Staff were very nice and accommodating, and the breakfast bar was hot and plentiful with oatmeal, fruit, waffles, ham & scrambled eggs, muffins & scones. Personally didn’t use the pool or hot tub but did see others enjoying it. The room was affordable and very close in proximity to the casino. I would definitely recommend."
"No much of a selection, 2 pastries, 4 slices of bread. They ran out of waffle mix, coffee cups. The guy behind the counter had pajamas on. No kidding. They were supposed to open the breakfast but opened it up at 6:35. Looks like they just woke up. "
"It’s a no frills, easy access, quiet place to stay. The owners are friendly. The rooms are clean. Parking at the room door is convenient. We have stayed there several times and will continue to go there. "
"Every time I visit my student at CMU this is where I stay. Love the staff and property. This last time there were a few flops. Pool was ice cold. The light in my room was burnt out and the heat was all over the place. I’ll stay again no questions asked. "
