"The room wasn’t in the best condition - old bathroom and old furniture but was fairly quiet at least. Not many gluten free options on the menu but grateful there was more than most places. The chips were still hard with the fish & chips unfortunately. Great little gym and love the sauna & steam room. Would be helpful if you had a bin outside as I end up carrying rubbish from my car up to the room."

"Very nice hotel with lovely well kept lawns and a stunning view of the lake. Staff are very professional and courteous. Everyone I encountered was friendly, hardworking working and clearly wanted the guests to have a really enjoyable and valued stay at the hotel. The cleanliness of the room was exceptional. Very good housekeeping team. The spa was nice to use after a days cycling and hiking. The hotel also provides guided local walking routes that are nice to do from the hotel. The hotel has easy access to Grasmere village so able to walk from the hotel into the village for a coffee and delicious ice-cream. Ambleside was also very accessible via the local bus route so no need to use the car for exploring the immediate local area. We stayed for four nights so able to totally relax and be rejuvenated. Good breakfast and dinner options available. There is ample space to relax and fully enjoy the beautiful countryside that inspired Wordsworth poetry."

"The hotel is lovely currently having a refurbishment can’t wait to see what it looks like. Our stay was still excellent and we were updated about the ongoing work. views from the terrace and room were amazing. All staff were fab but special mention to the 3 lads behind the bar and serving meals friendly polite and overall excellent."

"Arrived and there was a lovely man who greeted us in our car. Pointed us in the right direction. Check in was quick & easy & staff lovely & welcoming. Room was lovely. Bigger than we expected. Bed was so comfy! Breakfast was delicious. All fresh & hot & lots of choice! Unfortunately we were unable to get in either of the restaurants as they were fully booked. Booking online before you go is a must! Highly recommend & would definitely book again!"
