Deceptive advertising. Very dirty, non potable water , just mud & dirt as you walk in room. Shower so small you can barely fit in. Mattress old and horrible, dirty flat, old pillows. Chair in room was so dirty ! Lot's of better places to stay for similair pricing.

Staff was very friendly and helpful, sheets were new and clean! Walking distance to Lake Superior and AuTrain beach. Tiny, quaint motel. Great stop on my UP journey. Handmade, fresh pastie too!

This is the type of property I would have expected in the UP in the 1950s. Unfortunately it has never moved on or been updated. It does have all the basics and sufficed for one night's stay in a convenient location.

Staying in Rural Area

Quite little motel. Check in was at the small gas station next door. We had a single room. Our cars navigation system did not take us to the right place, but google did. We recommend bringing water to the site as there is a lot of sulfide in the water. It smells of rotten eggs and has a tint to it. It's not unusual for rural areas. If you are sensitive to smell, I would not recommend staying here. I would also bring a bag for recycling as there isn't one. Otherwise, it was great! Very quiet area. I likes that there were flashing yellow lights for the turn. The road to it is 65 miles an hour so the notice is great.

The motel is in a great location, just a few minutes walk from Au Train beach. The adjoining store is convenient for picking up things you might need for your stay or pre-made food. Everything was clean and in working condition. The room included a mini fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. Our two bed unit was actually two bedrooms plus the bathroom and a little sitting area. The room is very dated and the mattress was kind of hard, even for someone who prefers a hard mattress. The water was slightly discolored…probably fine but we picked up a jug of water just in case. The gentleman at check-in was very nice but had some trouble finding our reservation, so it took a while to check in. There is no after hours check in, so you need to be able to check in during store hours.

This is a low budget place to stay and fits the bill for that. Rooms are outdated and falling apart (literally-the ceiling tiles look like they could come down on the bed at any time). Room was clean. Staff next door was very unpleasant and wouldn’t even look up from their personal phone call to ask if we needed help. For the area it’s one of the cheaper options if you just need a place to stay for the night.
