"My room was modern, clean and a good size. The parking was easy and close to the entrance of the hotel. I ate in the restaurant on site ‘Ba’zaan’ and the menu was Indian Cuisine and honestly the best curry’s I have tasted in a while. Well done to the new owners and staff you have turned this hotel around from the previous owners."

"I’ve stayed at The Essex Golf & Country Club several times before and have always had a pleasant experience, which is why this visit was so disappointing. Unfortunately, the room did not meet the usual standards I’ve come to expect. The bed hadn’t been made properly, which immediately gave a poor first impression, and the bath drain was extremely slow, making it frustrating to use. It’s a shame because I’ve enjoyed my previous stays here, but this time the lack of attention to detail really let things down. I hope this was just a one-off, as I would like to return in the future, but improvements definitely need to be made to maintain the quality guests expect"

"Not sure how its a 4-star. Anyway, the restaurant was really good, great food (but a bit heavy on cheese and light on mushrooms in the risotto) and wine. Special recognition for Tilly, who was very attentive. The fire alarm went off 12 times in the night, really? The room, No. 17, was way too hot, maybe that's what triggered the alarm? The heated towel rail was on full and I couldn't see how to turn it off. The bathroom extractor fan ran on for ages."
