Stayed 2 nights. Restaurant was excellent for dinner, food and service excellent although choice on menu limited for our taste, and the presence of non residents dining was a good sign. Cooked breakfast on first morning was very good. Cooked breakfast on second morning was none existent. Without any explanation, we were left with only a choice of cereal, toast and yoghurts, with a few sandwiches in the place where the self-service cooked breakfast had been the previous day. No explanation from the staff, who were very good, other than embarrassed expressions on their faces. Hotel in need of refurbishment to take full advantage of the stunning views of the loch which it enjoys. In short, we will go to that area again, we may book to dine there again, but probably wouldn’t stay at the hotel again.

Superb stay at the Holly Tree

Fabulous stay at the Holly Tree Inn, everything was top notch, the luxury room (14) had fantastic views, the staff were friendly and attentive, the food fabulous at both dinner and breakfast and the hotel was spotless. My only surprise is tgat this hotel didn’t have a higher star rating. Ill be back 👍

Stayed here quite a few times now. Standard of service good, although they have stopped making up rooms on a daily basis, I suspect due to shortage of staff. Good restaurant

The hotel was in a quiet area with great views across Loch Linnhe. The room and entire property were very clean. Room was spacious. Water pressure was very good in the shower. Staff was very attentive, especially in the restaurant and bar areas. The bathroom was dated and the bed was a wee bit harder than we would have preferred. Overall it was a nice small hotel that fit our needs very well.

Not as good as it used to be

The place as sadly gone downhill in the past two or three years. The room was comfortable, but no water bottles and NO HOUSEKEEPING during our stay, unacceptable considering rates. Bathroom in room 10 needs attention, the tap nozzle is stiff and the water taps are wrongly orientated. Tile work needs attention as does the side of the bathtub, looks dirty but it might be because it's old and worn out. Radiator in the bathroom seems to have been replaced and the polyfilla used to seal the previous holes was smeared on the tiles and not cleaned. One of the bedroom windows glass was cracked at the top. Breakfast that used to be very good when cooked to order, is now served buffet style. Feels like too much food is made and then stored and reheated next day not to right temperature. Toast bread is possibly the cheapest brand. We had booked two dinners but after the first night we cancelled the booking for the second as the food wasn't up to the standard it used to be. No seafood platter, the scallops still not properly trimmed (mentioned this last time we were here, they keep on leaving the scallop foot attached). Our meals were forgotten obviously under the lights in the kitchen for about 30 minutes and the chicken/haggis was pretty dried out. Told the waitress but she didnt look bothered. We won't be back unless massive improvements to the building and restaurant are made. There is no value for money as it feels like paying a high rate just for great views and not for the stay

A Tranquil Escape at Holly Tree Hotel

Despite the rainclouds hovering during our visit, our stay at the Holly Tree Hotel was a peaceful retreat. Nestled between dramatic mountains and the calming waters of Loch Linnhe, the location offers a sense of quiet seclusion that’s hard to come by. The inclement weather kept us indoors more than planned, but somehow that only deepened the stillness and made the setting feel more intimate. The hotel itself maintains a gentle charm—warm, inviting, and perfectly suited for recharging away from the bustle. A special mention goes to the incredible staff who made our stay feel effortlessly relaxed—always attentive yet never intrusive. Breakfasts were wholesome and comforting, and the vegetarian dinner was a pleasant surprise, offering a thoughtfully prepared meal that didn’t feel like an afterthought. Whether you’re watching the mist roll in from your window or simply soaking in the silence, the Holly Tree Hotel proves that even rainy days can be restorative.

I stayed in a deluxe king room with a view. The view was amazing! We had a nice e little deck. The hotel dining was convenient and the food was pretty good. The full Scottish Breakfast was great! The bed was firm, which wasn't my preference but my husband liked it. I would stay here again.

Friendly, immaculate, historic with amazing views!

I booked my trip at the last minute and an overnight camp in the wild, we had the most wonderful hotel waiting for us. I’ve traveled to many places and stayed in many hotels. This is a really special place and historic building. I loved every minute of my stay, thank you!

Superb place would highly recommend!

I went with a friend fof her birthday up the west coast of scotland and we decided to extend our stay and chose the Hollytree last minute. But what a fabulous choice! The views were incredible, the room was very spacious and the twin beds felt comfy and cosy! The lesuire facilities were also great - pool and jacuzzi where we met some other tourists. The breakfast was superb and the hosts were ever so polite - Magdalene was ever so nice and told us of nice walks to do round the area. Over all very friendly and amazing place would suit family, friends or just a romantic getaway with a partner🙂

Reasonable stay

The room was a good size. Reasonably clean but there were areas in bathroom and around the windows that had slight damp/mould. Feel that the public areas were fit for purpose but tired. Think this could be a cracking hotel if it had a bit of an upgrade.
