"Our stay was incredible. I cannot recommend AVANTON enough. Great breakfast, spectacular view and amenities and the path from the hotel to the town is breathtaking. Genuinely sad to leave and can’t wait to come back"
"Staff was very nice and the aesthetics were quite pleasing.
In terms of functionality, our toilet didn’t flush half the time, the drains were clogged, and we didn’t have hot water for our entire stay, and had to use another room to shower. The phone didn’t work, and the mini fridge was very loud in the middle of the night. Also, the lights by the pool were not installed, leaving exposed wires inches away from the pool and we found many screws just laying on the ground around the pool which we almost stepped on many times, we picked them up ourselves to avoid injuries to us or other guests.
Again very beautiful, if they upgraded their amenities this would be a wonderful place and it is an excellent location with a wonderful breakfast buffet. Only wish the amenities were more modern and better maintained."
"This is a wonderful property, sited on the side of a dramatic cliff under the town of Chora. Stavros and his small team were absolutely welcome ming and so helpful "
"THIS HOTEL SHOULD BE NAMED: SEWAGE SANDS
Our two days at the Blue Sands Hotel were a total mess. The room smelled awful, and the staff treated us terribly. Do not stay here until they learn how to run a hotel and treat people with respect.
Day One: The Awful Smell and The Rude Manager
Our trip started with a ruined, sleepless night because of a terrible smell of human waste in our room from a broken pipe at the hotel. When the front desk opened at 9AM we spoke with the manager Mirela. Together we went to smell our room and she agreed it was bad, saying, "I’ve never smelled a room like this before, this is bad."
They moved us to a new room, but that was the least they could do. A simple room change is not enough for such a horrible start to our vacation. They didn't even say sorry or offer our money back. When we asked for a refund, Mirela was very rude and laughed at us, saying she had "done more than enough." She acted like she didn't care at all about our terrible night.
Day Two: Everything Broke
The new room was just as bad. It had many problems:
• The shower had no water pressure and no hot water.
• The fridge leaked water all over the floor.
• The air conditioner poured water down the wall, making a big puddle that soaked our luggage.
To top it all off, we were supposed to check out at noon. But starting at 11:00 AM, staff kept banging on our door and calling us to make us leave quickly.

"This is the best place in Folegandros and one of the better overall places among options on the islands
Family owned and operated, amazing service, high end boutique design, amazing views and close to town - bonus kitchens that we didn’t know their rooms came with, fully stocked and lots of complimentary items
10/10
One of our favourites!

"The Polikandia Hotel is an absolute gem.
The property itself is kept in immaculate condition, and there is a genuine dedication to excellence in hospitality in every sense of the word. Gorgeous bougainvilleas surround the pool and create the most gorgeous setting.
Location wise, the hotel is perfectly situated right at the entrance to Chora, with all the lovely taverns, shops and bars. These are all literally steps away.
It is also ideally located for the walk up to the church with the most majestic sunset views (yes, better than anywhere else in the Cyclades and I have been to many!).
The rooms of the hotel are comfortable, clean and well maintained.
I highly recommend this hotel if you are looking for an unforgettable stay on the beautiful island of Folegandros."
