This villa is owned by a very nice family, who were so accommodative, and helped us and we're very flexible. They also prepared good breakfast and provided nice conversation. "I booked Kurunduketiya as a birthday present for my partners 30th and some nice accommodation to finish our holiday at. However due to poor administrational errors, the resort didn’t have the correct details of our booking which we had paid for in full. It wasn’t until I reached out with questions about the booking 5 days prior that they contacted me to tell me that they had double booked and that we had to cut our stay short one night. They did offer up accomodation at another resort, however...

"Mount Lavinia hotel is in an amazing location with a phenomenal view. The F&B staff and food is excellent and very friendly. There was a games room with a pool table and table tennis table which my kids thoroughly enjoyed. There is work to be done in renovating the hotel and parts of the building to restore it to it’s former grandeur, but all in all a great place to base yourself and enjoy the beautiful and serene waves, lovely pool and mesmerising sunset you can see on the terrace. Note that some rooms have been renovated to a modern feel whilst others are not and have an old world charm to them- so factor that in when booking to best suit your holiday preferences "

"I had high expectations of this place but was very disappointed! They charged me extra $80 for no valid reason and the people at the front desk all gave different answers when I asked about the extra charge not knowing what was going on. I need a refund ! I was traveling with family kids and elderly they were inconsiderate of allergy and elderly needs and did not help us with warming our food so we had to go without dinner. The staff was so rude and unhelpful and objected the ladies going into the pool. The rooms bathrooms and fridge were dirty and stained ….. not recommended! "

"Overall, the hotel has great potential, but unfortunately, it is completely untapped. The hotel has two advantages: a large pool with an ocean view and all rooms offering ocean views—of course, the higher the floor, the better the view. And that’s where the positives end. There is no service at the hotel whatsoever. Rooms are not ready on time for check-in. Contrary to the descriptions, there is no bar at the hotel. The food is „so so”, and all three meals a day are almost the same. The hotel is located in the middle of nowhere. You have to provide your own drinks, snacks, and refreshments because there is no bar. There is mold on the walls. The hotel is also partially under renovation. Overall, I do not recommend it. For this price, you can find something better and in a much more interesting location."
