"We arrived on a Sunday afternoon when a folk band was playing in the bar. The staff were friendly and helpful and cheerfully sorted out a my (minor) booking mistake. The room isn't big, it doesn't need to be. It was well outfitted spotless as was the shower room. The only fault with the shower room was the water pressure: all too often it's feeble, but in this case the pressure came as a (slightly damp) surprise when we washed our hands. We had dinner in the bar, where the band was still playing. The atmosphere was fantastic, their rendition of "Of Flower of Scotland", with audience participation, will stay as a happy memory for a long time. Oh yes, the food was great, and the portions generous without being excessive. The beer was good too. Definitely, the Crown lived up to it's slogan "Sip|Sup|Stay". It was happenstance that I chose the crown, but the repeat visits will not be down to luck (apart possibly the luck of there being a room available). If it was possible, I'd give them 6 stars!Thank you the Crown."

"We were made to feel very welcome when we arrived. Accommodation was very comfortable & clean. Shower was amazing. We had a room overlooking the river. Great choice at breakfast. Would definitely recommend having the full breakfast."

"Had a lovely stay at this hotel, host was polite and welcoming, we enjoyed lovely Indian starters and a drink for good prices at the friendly bar. Room comfortable. Car park to rear very handy though big potholes that you can't avoid. Host recommended nice cafe for breakfast across the street where we could get a discount due to hotel stay. We would return and look forward to trying a nice curry in main restaurant."

"Great town to base yourself we stayed there for 8 years so we know this . The guest house is beautiful back from the road so very peaceful. The hosts are so lovely and welcoming. The room we had was a small double and it was immaculate,clean and had everything you need . Breakfast was excellent and there was plenty to eat . You won’t be disappointed "
