Anastasia Island hotel rooms a the Independent

"I never write reviews. Decided it was worth to share. Manager was not accommodating. The safety lock somehow opened when I closed my door and was locked out of the room for 4+ hours while we waiting for maintenance. Our day was wasted as our car keys and money were inside the locked room. The maintenance staff proceeded to try to kick in the door and needed to use tool to pry the lock off the wall through the little crack the door was open. We had to fight for a single night refund! Tried to go in the hot tub on a rainy day but the hot tub was luke warm. They claimed the hot tub was as “on” when I asked to turn heater on. The day before the hot tub was hot to the touch. The cleaning staff didn’t come once during our 4 day stay. We brought our garbage down to a garbage can and asked for clean towels at desk. All in all. The hotel would be fine to sleep in and get to the beach. But when weather isn’t good or unfortunate events happen like getting locked out- this hotel was not concerned with a quick fix to better our stay. Or a refund for ruining an entire day. Or heating a hot tub on a cold rainy day. The manager was not very nice to costumers who were just trying to enjoy a short vacation and have never complained about a thing. This was just too many things to “let go”. Super disappointed. "

"I logged several concerns with our room (331). Bathroom door made horrible noise when closing. The curtains were all messed up and wouldn't close. We were near a light pole (outside) so the light made it difficult to get a good night's sleep. The front desk staff was very sorry for these issues and waved the parking fee. "

"We stayed for spring break for three nights April 6-8 and unfortunately the weather did not cooperate with us so we didn’t get to use any of the amenities but the pool tiki bar and fire pit area all looks great. It was just way too windy and cold for us to really experience them :( Staff was very friendly upon check-in and at the restaurant during breakfast. "

"There was 2 of us, and we stayed on the ground floor closest to the pool. Very spacious, clean and comfortable beds. Easy check in and out."

"This was our second time staying at this hotel. Our first stay (11/2025) was absolutely amazing so we were excited to come back. Unfortunately, it was not the same experience. When we arrived the front desk over night staff was rude and unhelpful. When we asked for a late check out (due to arriving at 1:30 am) she stated it would be an extra $25 upcharge, although on the website it stated there is a $0 upcharge for late check out. Our room smelled HEAVY of cat urine/cat liter, our hotel phones were not working, and there was mold on the shower door/shower floor. We paid almost $400 for a one night stay in room for 6 people but had 3 towels in the bathroom for all of us to share. All this was mentioned to the front desk staff in the morning and all that was provided was an apology. The amenities were good- breakfast, gym, staff at the pool were very friendly and the beach was beautiful. Unfortunately due to inconsistency in experiences from one stay to another and condition of the hotel room, we will not be coming back. "
