"Pleasant stay. Helpful staff. Nice room but very noisy, overlooking bus station and harbour/ ferry dock. No bar or lounge area, so nowhere to relax or escape to. Would not recommend Amalfi for more than a day trip."
"Overall, we had a very good stay. The hotel was nice, the room was spacious and clean, breakfast was great, and the area was fantastic. The staff was also very kind and friendly throughout our stay.
The only downside was that the “front of property” description and photos on Expedia could be a little misleading. Since they show large pictures of the cathedral next to the hotel, we honestly thought the entrance was somewhere up there. We even went all the way up the cathedral stairs trying to find it, only to realize the entrance was actually next to it. The small door is hard to notice in the photos, especially because most guests will not be arriving from that same angle shown in the pictures.
We believe it would help future guests if the hotel added clearer directions and more accurate entrance photos on Expedia. Besides that, everything else was great and we enjoyed our stay."
"Location, location, location. If that is what interest you, then this hotel is a good fit for you however, the bathrooms had mold in the shower, broken tiles in the bathroom, the beds were harder than the cement they used to built the city. The pillows were old and they need to be replaced. The air conditioner didn't work that well. The breakfast was ok. The 2 ladies that worked the breakfast area worked really hard and kept that area clean. It's a bit loud even with the windows closed but it is manageable since it is across the street from the marina and across the church. Again, amazing location. The hotel could use a little update."
"This was one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed at!! From the staff to the marble floors!! The room we stayed in had a jacuzzi with a large terrace and if it’s available, don’t hesitate to book it!! Amazing views! 10/10"
"We booked the Grand Hotel Excelsior to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary — our first trip without our three young children. Unfortunately, due to back-to-back medical emergencies (a serious spinal injury requiring treatment for me and a car accident leaving my wife with a broken toe), we needed to discuss our options with the hotel.
Over a three-week period, I called multiple times and sent over 10 messages through email and Hotels.com. The hotel never responded to a single one. When I managed to get someone on the phone, I was told they could not speak with me and to send an email — emails they never answered. Hotels.com also attempted to contact them on our behalf for 14 consecutive days with no response.
I was not demanding a refund. I was simply asking to have a conversation — to discuss a possible date change, to understand accessibility and accommodation options given our injuries, and to explore any flexibility. They refused to engage at all.
I understand that non-refundable policies exist. What I do not understand is a hotel that will not communicate with its paying guests under any circumstances. No acknowledgment. No response. No effort whatsoever.
We lost over $1,000 on a reservation at a hotel that could not be bothered to return a single message in three weeks. For a property that markets itself as a luxury experience, the complete lack of customer service was shocking. Hotels.com also said that their hotels are allowed to fully ignore customers. Tread light"
"We booked this hotel for our 1 year wedding anniversary and so glad we chose Hotel Bellevue. The hotel itself was very clean and tidy and had everything we needed but the best part by far was the staff. Everyone from the hotel manager to the housekeepers were so friendly and welcoming and nothing was ever too much. We were made to feel like family and they ensured our stay was everything we could have dreamed of."
