Wonderful place. We will definitely stay again. We loved being just outside of Amalfi and away from the crowds, and this hotel is high on the mountain with incredible views. It does require taking the hotel shuttle, city bus or a cab to get into town, but we did not find that to be much of an inconvenience.

Our accommodations were awesome, and the view from our terrorist was amazing. The service was outstanding. The amenities were also awesome including the pool. I truly like the beach club as well as the shuttle service into town. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Great location, high in the hills above Amalfi offering amazing views. The hotel was clean, well maintained, really helpful and friendly staff. The bedrooms were a good size, comfortable beds, well equipped bathroom, TV, tea and coffee. Handy shuttle bus to the town runs frequently throughout the day and can be booked online. Only criticism I can make is the breakfast was not very warm (no matter what time you arrived) the coffee machine was hopeless, getting it too work was very hit and miss, needed pods that you had to get from staff. Restaurant food not good value, menu choice was strange and quite limited, portions were small, my opinion was it was aspiring to be something it simply wasn't i.e. fine dining. But there are plenty of places to eat in Amalfi so wasn't an issue for us.

We stayed at the Hotel in October and had a wonderful overall experience. The property itself is absolutely gorgeous, the rooms are clean and comfortable, and the staff are fantastic friendly, attentive, and always willing to help. One thing to keep in mind if you’re planning a stay in October is that the cave bar by the pool is closed for the season, so plan accordingly if that was something you were looking forward to enjoying. Our only real disappointment was the food. For a property of this calibre and price point, we expected a much higher standard, particularly when it came to dinner. Unfortunately, the dining experience didn’t quite live up to the rest of the hotel. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay. The hotel, rooms, and service were all excellent, and aside from the food, we honestly had no complaints. With some improvements to the dining experience, this property would be even more exceptional!

This hotel was everything. The staff here is incredible, the restaurant was amazing (and great sunset/moonrises). We didn't get the opportunity to go to the private beach but heard it was amazing as well. Perfect place to stay in Amalfi, when we come back we will definitely be booking here again.

If you think you can get a better sea view of Amalfi and the coastline then you're being conned by AI. Sat on the hillside on the approach road to Pogerola the hotel provides stunning views over Amalfi and the coastline. All guest rooms have this view so you can watch the tranquil waters or the small boats/ferries zipping in and out of the harbour or speculate on who might be on the bigger ships anchored just offshore. The hotel is clean, the guest rooms are large and cleaned daily, large balconies with sunbeds and a table, food (we only ate at breakfast) was plentiful, the pool (though small) provides ample space to swim or sit back and enjoy a drink from the cave poolside bar. The staff are brilliant, very friendly and helpful from being greeted in Amalfi by the Shuttle Bus driver, the receptionists, porters, bar and waiters/waitresses and the housekeepers. The location alone sells this hotel, everything else is a bonus.

This was one of our favorite hotels we ever stayed in. The property is absolutely stunning with an incredible view of Amalfi and is a serene escapt from the noise of the town. We specifically loved the gorgeous stone-bottomed pool looking over the ocean and the amazing grottini pool bar. The resort’s private beach club is also fantastic— it has an elevator to take you all the way from the cliff to the beach unlike most beach clubs in the area, and is incredibly private and serene. The shuttle service was imepccable with on-time departures every single time, safe drivers, and easy booking (this service saved us literally hundreds of dollars in what otherwise would have had to have been taxis). Lastly, every single member of the staff was phenomenal- kind, accomodating of our very little italian, helpful, and professional at every turn. We will absolutely be staying here again!

We loved our stay here! The shuttle was the most helpful part that brought you to either the beach or the city center, very easy to use. The staff was very helpful and accommodating! The view at breakfast was unreal and cave bar was such a cool place to have a drink in. I would def stay here again!

An Unforgettable Stay with Unmatched Views and Impeccable Service!We had an absolutely incredible stay at this hotel and cannot recommend it enough.From the moment we arrived, everything was perfect. The room itself was amazing, but the real highlight was the huge private side terrace. Having an ocean view of that scale is on a completely different level—it genuinely took our breath away every single day. Even the smaller details were spot on, including a shower with fantastic water pressure, which is always a huge plus.Getting around was incredibly easy thanks to the hotel's transfer service to Amalfi. It was exceptionally efficient, always punctual, and took all the stress out of traveling back and forth.Dining here was another major highlight. Breakfast offered a good selection, but it’s the backdrop that truly makes it special—eating any meal with that incomparable view is an experience we won't forget. We also decided to have dinner at the hotel one evening, and it was a wonderful surprise. The quality of the food was excellent, and the service was top-notch.If you are looking for spectacular views, great food, and seamless service, look no further! We can't wait to come back.

Everyone working here was delightful and such a help when needed; easy to understand. Breakfast was a large spread of many different items, including some gf items if needed. There was an espresso maker and a water fountain to use. Our room was renovated, so very updated and wow what a view!! All the comforts you need. The pool was very refreshing; I will say it didn’t look deep on the pictures but it definitely is!! Such a very nice pool and again the view was amazing! The pool bar was an extra bonus! The hotel shuttles were such a nice amenity. We were able to get all the timeslots we needed and is about a 10 min drive each way. It’s quite an adventure! A lot of switchbacks and elevation but I never felt unsafe; these drivers are very experienced! The beach was so beautiful and fun to get to through a grotto and 2 elevators. Amenities were beach bar and restroom with nice chairs. The beach is very rocky so make sure you bring some kind of water shoes. I wore my teva sandals. Wonderful hotel and very much recommend!!

Views are the main event at this hotel but not too far behind is the helpful staff: friendly and knowledgeable and always willing to help. Amenities are great - my favorite the beach club. Shuttle takes you to the beach, they greet you, provide towels, you take two separate elevators down the cliff to the beach and subbed, umbrellas are ready for you. There’s also a bar and cafe on premises. The pool is incredible at the hotel and again the views from there are amazing. Overall 5-star experience.

The Excelsior was our home base on the Amalfi Coast for six nights. The hotel has absolutely beautiful views and a lovely ambiance, with pleasant rooms and lovely balconies. The hotel is located high on the hillside above Amalfi and does require a shuttle to reach the town center, which was ultimately the biggest obstacle during our stay. The shuttle runs on a very strict schedule and only seats 8, so it must be booked well in advance. This limited our ability to make spontaneous plans, as our dining reservations and other commitments had to be scheduled around an inflexible shuttle service. We had to cut a long-awaited dinner short to make the only available shuttle, and were still left behind because we couldn’t close our check quickly enough and arrived at the pickup at two minutes past the pickup time. The restaurant provided a nice breakfast with a wide variety of items and seating overlooking the ocean, which was lovely. We did try one dinner at the hotel and it was sadly the worst meal of our two weeks in Italy, so we did not return to eat there again. The bar was out of prosecco for two days, and was not able to make some standard cocktails including martinis, so keep this in mind if you hope to enjoy cocktails. Generally, the hotel was a nice enough place to stay, but the amenities did not quite live up to expectations. The staff said the hotel was closing in two weeks for the winter, and we felt that we probably experienced end-of-season doldrums.

More like a 2.5 star hotel. It says a 4 star. You have to rely on shuttle service for everything if you leave. Very dated hotel. Beds were VERY uncomfortable. Great views. Staff was friendly as was the shuttle drivers. I get away to get off a schedule and had to book and plan everything by shuttle which was not always available at prime dinner times or prime day times. I would not recommend this hotel due to proximity to towns.

We absolutely loved our stay here! We were a little nervous after seeing a few recent reviews but do not listen to them. Our stay was incredible. The views are unbelievable no matter what room you’re in. The shuttle service was extremely easy to use and so helpful. Everything was very clean. Loved all the staff, we’ll absolutely be back!

The hotel is as described. Perched on a hillside with a stunning view of Amalfi coastline. The staff were very helpful and attentive. Well maintained property. FYI: ask for the free hotel shuttle from the ferry station when booking, be ready to pay €70-90 to get up the hill to the hotel.
