Spacious, sandy Alvor Beach is a good choice for those seeking a quieter alternative to nearby Praia da Rocha. Find a peaceful spot somewhere along the lengthy stretch of golden sand and take advantage of the beach’s many facilities.

The beach is known for its clean, clear and calm waters and its long open sweep of sand, which is backed by dunes. Enjoy a barefoot stroll along the sun-warmed sands in search of a spot to pitch your towel. The water quality and cleanliness of the beach has earned it Blue Flag status.

Because of its large size, the beach rarely feels crowded. Sun umbrellas and beach loungers are available for rent.

Relax on the beach for a few hours, enjoying the views of the blue water. To cool down, wade into the water. The beach slopes gently into the sea.
