To get to this extremely remote low pool called the Ernst Tinaja, you have to drive a high-clearance or 4WD vehicle on Old Ore Road in Big Bend National Park and hike about a mile. It was sweltering in April but so worth it to see the pink and orange flaky layers of rock laid down by eons of a shallow inland sea. The pool is a scary toxic green, and with its steep sides is a death trap to creatures other than birds or insects. Alpine is a small town between Marfa, TX and Big Bend. It is full of small diners and great, West Texas shops. Nice street art too!

This was a terrible mistake. The room - all areas were in poor condition and basically very dirty, especially floor. Nearby to Big Bend NP. Staff was good and check-in was good.
