"We arrived at around 2am on an Orange taxi from the airport (about 5-10 minutes and $10us) Taxi driver did not want to wait for us to be let inside. Rang the bell twice and after 1-2 minutes staff opened the door, greeted us and showed us the room. Driver did at least wait until someone was obviously awake and coming. 5 stars for the fact that my WhatsApp messages to the hotel were answered promptly and they actually let us inside quickly upon arrival. Room itself was very basic and had no windows to the outside( just to the hallway) but had the essentials and good hot water for showering. Also seemed to be totally wheelchair accessible, and had good wifi with password posted in common areas. And the included breakfast and coffee was restaurant quality and excellent. (Gallo pinto, pan tostado, plátano frito, huevo y salchicha, café y mas ). Staff were all friendly and helpful. I booked on short notice thru expedia. Security , 24 hr front desk, communication, and price were my top priorities due to late flight arrival to SJO. I was worried about being stuck outside somewhere in the city in the middle of the night without a working cell phone and didn't want to pay big chain prices nearer the airport.Tucán delivered on security and communication and served an awesome breakfast as well."

"The room was spacious and spotless. The location is great and the staff at the Garden Hotel the Las Carmelas sister property where I checked in and purchased breakfast was very friendly and helpful, especially Ronald. I would recommend the hotel to anyone stopping over in San Jose "

"Staff was very helpful. They overbooked our room at Park View so gave us an Uber ride to their sister hotel Tucan a few blocks away. Very nice people. Room was quieter at the Tucan. Great breakfast to go. Wonderful coffee!!"
