Our stay at Las Cabanas in El Nido was a beautiful complement to our time in the fast moving city life of Makati. The beach cottage (cabin #1), the visual environment, the water, the people - every aspect of our stay left a deep and memorable impression on us. We were moved by the hospitality and kind welcome we received. The food and drinks were delicious and the staff is thoughtful and accomodating. Every view is of paradise. Much is said about the sunsets, and this is understandable, but the sunrise is something spectacular. I woke early every morning before the beach torches were put out so I could wade through the water as the morning sun burned away the mist from the surreal-looking islands, and illuminated the world class landscape. I would suggest avoiding the group Island hopping tours and instead talking to Hazel early about chartering your own boat for the day. The trip with “Tom & Jerry” and “Captain Jack” was the highlight of our stay, and that says a lot. The whole venture brought us to 4 islands, one completely private beach, a feast of a lunch, an encounter with a 4-foot monitor lizard, kayaking, swimming, & cost us 1750 pisos for the day, and we tipped the guys the rest of what we had because it was so spectacular. When we return to the Philippines we will undoubtedly return to Las Cabanas. A truly unique place and exactly as gorgeous as seen in the images. Get a beach villa. There are tons of activities provided by the hotel to explore nearby lagoons, and islands. I cannot recommend it enough. We stayed three days and I would have loved to extend. We also came during what should be the rainy season, but it also meant enjoying cooler weather and this is the tropics so no such thing as cold! The hotel says that you need to arrange your bookings with them for connecting boats but in fact its so so well organized from the instant you book your ticket with Air Swift to El Nido airport. Air Swift is a great airline and El Nido airport is wonderful clean and slick resort airport. It's a smooth and VIP service. They take your bags, give you a sticker and place you in the lounge and you're pampered all the way until you arrive to a very hospitable staff reception. The only fault in this beautiful, romantic and enjoyable spot of a hotel is that the food was not that good, breakfast was fine but I suffered for lunch and dinner options. Pool was unique. Breakfast every morning was great - I was impressed with the variety! Some staff were friendly, others not so much. Rooms were spacious but not very clean - our bathroom had lots of mould. Provided towels had lumps of hair so I question the cleanliness. Decent location to everything.…
