"Hotel Sol is an excellent choice to stay when visiting the Panajachel area. Unlike many other places in the area, the building is secure, very clean, the rooms are big, the shower (hot and cold water) actually works, and the staff are attentive and helpful. Although the hotel is in the periphery of Panachel, for less than $1 (5 quetzales) you can hop into a tuck-tuck and go anywhere in Panajachel. I have stayed in several places in the area and Hotel Sol is my number one choice."

I’m leaving this review to tell people to probably use Hostelworld to book this property because this is actually an old account. "Paradise in the middle of Panajachel. Hotel is on Calle Santander where all the action is. Tons of shopping and restaurants. An easy 5 minute stroll to the lanchas. The best part is the hot springs tub on the hotel grounds. Hotel grounds are well kept and great security and hotel staff. Stayed here with kids and they have a little play area with swings. "
