Where to stay in Newport

Well-preserved oval mound that once hosted gladiatorial combat and military processions. This amphitheater was built for the Roman forces at Isca around AD 90 and would have seated around 6000 spectators!

Caerleon

Caerleon is noteworthy for its restaurants, and you can make a stop at top attractions like Caerleon Amphitheatre and Isca Augusta.

Caerleon
This was a winter morning shot. You can go here anytime of the year as no two days are the same. There's ample parking, amenities and a lake behind the castle. Good selection of wildlife. Plenty of room to explore. Not rushed.

Caldicot

You'll enjoy the churches and gardens in Caldicot. You might want to make time for a stop at Caldicot Castle and Country Park or Dewstow Gardens & Hidden Grottoes.

Caldicot

Langstone

Uncover some of the top draws of Langstone like its restaurants and spas. If you're hoping to see more of the larger area, make a stop by Celtic Manor Resort Golf Club or Coldra Woods.

Langstone
Beautiful Autumn day canal walk.

Rogerstone

While Rogerstone might not have many sights to explore, venturing just a little farther will lead you to top things to see and do like Tredegar House and Newport Docks.

Rogerstone
The coolest "bridge" I have ever "driven" across! Drive aboard and take flight over the River Usk in this 110 year old engineering marvel. Only six of these historic bridges remain in operation, and the Newport Bridge is the longest with a 196m span (645ft).

A modern highway bridge passes nearby, so these days the bridge operates as a novelty. Show up on either side, and the operator will come pick you up! You can also climb the steps and walk across the 54m

Pillgwenlly

If you're spending some time in Pillgwenlly, Newport Docks and Riverfront are top sights worth seeing.
