"If you stay here, don’t eat lunch and no snacking! The meals are huge. Nice onsen and coffee in the morning. Enjoy the sound of the river as you go to sleep. The staff were friendly and accommodating of our minimal Japanese language skills. "

For example, I requested to be moved to a smaller side table, but the staff was not flexible and insisted my seat is in the middle of the dining hall. I was traveling alone and the side table I asked for no one was ever seated there in the end. Basic information like sharing that there is no detergent in the laundry room before I went for the long walk there could have saved...
