"WE arrived there quite late, 4pm. It was about to be sunset and get cold. Receptionist was very friendly and helpful in giving tips to eateries and sights. The location of the hotel, on top of a hill, gives to great view of the sunset and sunrise as well as being a good marker for navigating back when you explore the small town by foot. "

"We stayed here for two nights with relatives and friends for a short time vacation in Myanmar. Overall, it’s nice hotel to stay, Hotel facilities are new as they opened in 2016. The hotel is pretty green, room are quite clean. They have nice view, outdoor swimming pool, indoor gym even though I didn’t use them. They look pretty good. Hotel staffs are pretty friendly, you will see their smiling face most of the time. One thing that what I like about is, they allowed us early check in at 10 am...

"Initially we thought this was a little bit away from the town and up a big hill, but that was a godsend when they had a festivl over 4 days in town and we didn't get the noise (the locals even complained about it). It was also a very pleasant walk and gave us chance to see local life - a tuk-tuk taxi was very cheap if you felt lazy. It was also close to starting points of some trekking. The rooms were fairly basic but clean and comfortable; the bathroom was large with a wet room type shower....

"I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Royal Kalaw Hills Resort. The grounds are absolutely beautiful, the food is excellent and the service was personal and everyone was very attentive. Chozin, who manages the resort was particularly helpful and I could always count on her to help me in many capacities. Her English skills are very good and she was able to help tremendously. "It's atmosphere is very good with full of flowers. However, what is good ends there. The room was cold at night, electricty recepticles were sluggish and the basin cap plug did not work. The hot water capacity was too small and I had to give up filling a bath tub with hot water. Preparing breakfast was very slow."

Breakfast only just OK, could have been better for budget. Stairs, no lift, par for course for Myanmar. "Good backpacker hotel/hostel. Staff and owner were very nice and helpful. They would do anything for you. Let us check in early after all the trekkers left in the morning and they cleaned the room for us right away. Booked great treking through them. Nice fire pit in evening to socialize with your fellow travellers. If hot water is not working just ask as the system seems to air lock sometimes, otherwise nice hot showers. Pancakes are standard for breakfast unless you ask for something else....
