"The Hotel Essencia is the best place to stay in downtown Dumaguete which puts you within walking distance of the stores and restaurants. The prices are reasonable for a hotel like this. The restaurant is acceptable. "

"Rooms were small & old, really need upgrade. No luggage rack and desk was not really a desk. That said, staff were super nice and brought us a table. Most importantly the room was really clean! Common areas were nice (though no AC in halls). Convenient to mall and transportation readily available to other places. Couldn’t ask for better service. Overall it was a great stay. "

"Pros: comfortable bed and pillows, nice bathroom, free breakfast, affordable price, wide tv with Netflix, close to restaurants, laundromat, massage spas, boulevard. Cons: no elevator, cold shower. I would recommend this place and would stay here again."

"Pros: Has a Greek feel to their design The staff is great! They set up my whale shark swim, plus made sure I was on one of the first boats! Reasonable prices on bottles of water. Relaxing sound of waves. Relaxing music all night. Cons: Lots of steps involved The pool wasn't very clean The Tv signal is nonexistent I enjoyed my stay here and the staff. The steps don't bother a mountain climber, and the view is beautiful! If I had a reason to return, I would. "

"The place is really nice, about half way between the port and the main part of the city so it's very convenient. I did pick this place because of the in-room safe, however I wound up not using it as it was very small. The owners are extremely accommodating and were able to let us check in early. The bathroom is very large, though partially "outside" for a unique experience (but you might want to bring shower shoes for the rocks)!!"

"All the amenities were great, the pools (excellent), the pool table and the bar area were all great to hang around in. The staff and boat crew at the dive shop have great spotting eyes and it's full service diving so they take care of all your equipment. My only gripe is that if you happen to have any snacks on you from outside the resort (bag of chips, peanuts, a coke) they must be consumed inside your room - seems a bit petty considering you're more or less eating 3 meals /day and drinking at...
