Begin your adventure with a walk through Jozani Forest, home to the rare red colobus monkeys. These unique creatures have four fingers and no thumb, with red backs and white chests. Watch them as they leap through the trees, eating the young fruits and vegetables.
As you explore, keep an eye out for other forest species like the dik-dik, elephant shrew, and chameleons. After your forest walk, visit the mangroves and learn how these vital ecosystems are grown and maintained.
Next, head to the Zanzibar Butterfly Centre, a community project aimed at protecting endangered species of butterflies. Set in 5000 sq/ft of beautiful gardens, the center offers the opportunity to see butterflies up close, feed them, and learn about their fascinating life cycle.
Finally head south to Mtende Beach, one of Zanzibar’s hidden gems. Nestled between dramatic coral rock cliffs, Mtende offers clear waters, untouched shoreline, and postcard-perfect views. Enjoy free time to swim, explore the rock formations, or simply relax with your feet in the sand.
