Glide through the historic canals of Xochimilco on a trajinera and step into a living agricultural landscape shaped by centuries of tradition. This immersive experience combines nature, culture, and local knowledge as you explore the legacy of the chinampas with a local guide. It is a thoughtful introduction to one of Mexico City’s most distinctive cultural and ecological areas.

Your experience begins on the water, where you’ll travel through the canals by traditional trajinera toward Chinampa Refugio. Along the way, hear stories rooted in oral tradition and learn how the canal system and chinampas have supported life in Xochimilco for generations. The journey offers a close look at the natural scenery and the everyday rhythms of this historic territory.

At the chinampa, discover agroecological crops and take part in a seasonal harvest with the produce available on the day. Smell, taste, and observe the ingredients that continue to define this ancestral farming system. You’ll also visit an axolotl conservation space to learn about this emblematic species and the work being done to help protect it.

The experience ends with a chinampa-style lunch made with local seasonal ingredients, served in the peaceful surroundings of Xochimilco’s canals.
