What you can expect

  • Carved out by ancient glacial movement thousands of years ago, the lake rests at an altitude of 1,910 metres. Its glass-like turquoise waters perfectly reflect the snow-dusted summit of Bogda Peak, which stands tall at 5,445 metres. The entire surrounding landscape unfolds in layered vertical mountain ecosystems: thick clusters of spruce trees carpet the hillsides, paired with wild alpine meadows that shift in colour through every season, crafting a vivid, untouched wilderness panorama unique to northern Xinjiang.
