Paddle out on a guided kayak tour from Wilmington to Shark Tooth Island—timed around the tides for the best chance to uncover fossil shark teeth. After meeting at the water’s edge, your guide will run a short safety and paddling skills demonstration so you feel comfortable before launching.
Follow your guide along the Cape Fear River, where you may spot jumping fish and local birdlife while hearing stories and history of the area. The route is family-friendly and run at a leisure pace, but this isn’t a calm lake—current and wind chop can occur, so come prepared for changing conditions.
Once you reach Shark Tooth Island, use the provided shark tooth finding equipment to comb the shoreline and explore. With dedicated time on the island, you’ll have a real chance to hunt for keepsake-worthy finds, take photos, and enjoy the scenery before heading back to the launch point.
To make the most of your tour, arrive 10–15 minutes early for check-in and the demonstration. If conditions are unsafe, you’ll be offered a reschedule; if that isn’t possible, you’ll receive a full refund per the supplier.
