The ferry ride takes approximately 1 hour and 55 minutes to 2 hours and 15 minutes from Heraklion, and around 2 hours and 20 minutes from Rethymno, depending on weather conditions. Next, the tour continues to Fira, the capital of Santorini, where you can stroll through charming streets, browse local shops, and admire panoramic views of the Caldera. While in Fira, travelers may choose to join an optional Volcano excursion (available at an extra cost), which runs from mid-May. This includes a traditional boat ride to the Volcano and the chance to swim in the natural hot springs.
