On this cruise, you will be able to see:
Starting from Virpazar, passing through the natural channel of the river Oraostica.
During the cruise on the Virpazar canal, you will be able to see many different birds, as well as water lilies “Lotus”. Water lily flowers can be seen between May and September, leading you to the vast open lake.
We continue sailing and enter the most beautiful area of the national park, the Moraca River. Where the Morača River meets Skadar Lake, it forms a vast delta of wetlands, marshes, and reed beds one of the most ecologically rich zones in the Balkans.
On the same way you will also be able to see old Lesendro fortress.
The Lesendro Fortress from 18 century, is one of the most iconic and historically important landmarks on Skadar Lake National Park.
The Maraca river section of the park is visually stunning and unique:
Vast carpets of water lilies in spring and summer.
Endless reeds and floating vegetation.
Narrow water channels ideal for boat exploration.
Birdwatching area for many type of the birds.
Also, this part of the national park is very suitable for nature photographers.
Ending with Moraca river we pass through small shallow channels, and continue towards the northern islands of the lake. During the cruise to the islands, we will provide you with more information and photo session.
The northern part of Skadar Lake National Park is dotted with small, wild islands. These islands are among the most mysterious, untouched, and ecologically rich places in Montenegro.
Unlike the rocky southern islands, the northern ones are:
Often seasonal (their size changes with water levels)
Surrounded by shallow wetlands full of life
Rich in floating vegetation and aquatic plants
The northern islands are some of the most important bird habitats in Europe.
You can spot:
Dalmatian pelicans (symbol of the park)
Pygmy cormorants
Herons and egrets
Seasonal migratory flocks
In Short:
The northern islands of Skadar Lake are:
Among the best birdwatching spots in the Balkans
Best explored by boat through hidden channels
A truly untouched natural environment
After the tour of the island, our captain will take you to the most beautiful swimming spot on the lake. Swimming between with the refraction of the sun's rays over the water and the mountains, it creates an unforgettable experience.
After swimming, continue sailing back to Virpazar.
