Meet your guide in Tortilla Flat, Arizona, the Home of the Apache Trail, for a 7 AM start. Begin your six-hour canyon tour with an easy drive through the Superstition Wilderness, surrounded by high Sonoran Desert views. Keep your eyes open for deer, mountain lions, javelina, and big horn sheep.
Leave the van behind and head out cross-country, navigating your way through open desert. Once in the canyon bottom, test your rock hopping skills. The route becomes more adventurous, testing your problem-solving skills on down-climbing puzzles. At times, the best way may be wading through desert plant life, rock hopping down a dry stream bed, wiggling your way under house-size boulders, being lowered, or rappelling to continue the journey.
The adventure culminates as your group reaches the edge of a vertical cliff. With nowhere to go but down, gear up for a thrilling rappel into the deep canyon below. The adventure is not over yet, as more full-body exercise continues until the trip abruptly leaves the canyon behind and cuts out cross-country once more.
After the adventure be sure to stop into the Old Fashioned Country Store and enjoy a scoop of world famous Prickly Pear Gelato!
