Begin your experience by meeting your guide at Shamisen Katoh. Learn to play the Tsugaru shamisen from Kouzan Oyama, a Tsugaru Shamisen World Champion. Receive practical tips to improve your playing, with instruction available in English. Beginners with no musical background are welcome.

Next, visit Katoh Shamisen Shop and observe traditional craftsmanship up close. Then, visit Yoshiwara Benten, a shrine dedicated to Benzaiten, the goddess of music, and pray for your musical improvement.

Finally, enjoy an evening at Oiwake, a traditional minyo bar. Watch live performances by champion shamisen players, and even try playing the shamisen and singing minyo (Japanese folk songs) yourself.
