What you can expect
The experience kicks off with a meeting in Paraíso da Serra or Teresópolis, near the Refuge, where we recommend an overnight stay the day before for a smooth start. From Paraíso da Serra, after the briefing and equipment check, we'll walk for a few minutes along the road to the trailhead.
The hike up the trail takes about 1 hour, through the Atlantic Forest, until you reach the rest and gear-up point. There, we'll get ready for the start of the adventure, which alternates between exposed hiking, steel cables, steps, and climbing for approximately 350 meters until we reach the base of the classic East Face Route, between the Finger of God and the Thumb Peak. Before we start climbing, we'll take a break to hydrate, admire the view, and take some photos.
From there, you'll start the technical climb of the East Face, a historic route opened in 1944, and the famous Maria Cebola variant, a very beautiful aerial dihedral. We'll make about 6 strategic stops, always with guided progression and safety systems, until we reach the summit of Dedo de Deus, at an altitude of 1,692 meters.
At the summit, we'll take a longer break to enjoy the panoramic view of the Serra dos Órgãos National Park, rest, have a snack, and take photos. The descent is by rappel, ensuring an exciting end to the experience.
The activity takes a full day, with an average duration of up to 12 hours, which may vary according to the group's pace. We start early to take advantage of the daylight and ensure a safe and complete experience. It's not just a climb, but a real dive into the history of Brazilian mountaineering.
