Start your day with a pickup from your hotel in Sunny Beach. Travel in a comfortable coach with a guide who speaks your language. Enjoy the scenic drive along the famous “Stara Planina” or “Balkan” mountains, which gave their name to the Balkan Peninsula.
Arrive in the charming village of Zheravna, where time seems to have stood still. Stroll along cobblestoned streets and visit an 18th-century house with preserved details from Bulgarian life of that time, including an original weaving handloom and bride’s dowry trunk.
Next, head to a church complex in a quiet and shady yard, where you can visit the working Orthodox temple “St. Nicolas,” built in 1834. Enjoy lunch in the yard of a local house, then have free time to explore the village.
Continue to the “Blue Stones” nature reserve for a panoramic tour to the top of the mountain. Take a breathtaking chairlift ride over the mountains and lowlands. If you prefer not to take the lift, the coach will take you to the final lift station.
Finish your tour with a visit to the city of Sliven, located at the foot of the mountains. Explore the city center, visit a big farm market, working Orthodox churches, and shopping centers. On your way back, enjoy views of the Bulgarian lowlands with vast vineyards and cereal grain fields.
