What you can expect

Experience the “Miracle of Stuttgart”: Over an area of 180 m² (1,937 sq. ft.), Europe’s largest city model unfolds, faithfully replicating the urban landscape of Stuttgart in the 1980s and 1990s – created by a single person, Wolfgang Frey.

Over a period of 15 years, this signalman worked part-time to create a city model unlike any other in the world, using scrap materials, bulky waste, paint, and glue. Every single element is unique: over 450 buildings at a scale of 1:160, 2,500 hand-painted vehicles, and 4,000 trees bring the past to life. Particularly fascinating are the 2,500 individually crafted gravestones and the former, fully functional signal box, featuring an 8-meter-long (26-foot) control panel and 8 control desks.

Nothing is made from prefabricated kits! Wolfgang Frey himself researched, planned, and built everything with the utmost precision. Looking at the streets, the buildings, the trains, and even the tiniest details, such as trash cans and fences, brings the city’s history to life in miniature. Each building tells a story, and each scene has been crafted with a wealth of small details that will amaze you.

The average visit lasts about 1.5 hours, but this captivating glimpse into this world will offer you so much more. Personal explanations and interesting anecdotes about the individual models will bring you closer to this masterpiece of art history and allow you to immerse yourself even more deeply in the miniature world.

An experience for all generations: Whether young or old, this unique city model captivates and enchants its visitors, allowing them to experience the history of a city that, through tiny details, creates a grand whole. It’s an unforgettable experience that you’re sure to remember for a long time to come.
