What you can expect
Strasbourg: The historic old town through the Christmas Market – A magical, gourmet, and easy premium tour with Yann, your official licensed local live guide.
Are you ready for a unique experience? Let your licensed and passionate guide lead you on a 3-hour exploration of Strasbourg's UNESCO-listed alleys. Forget the classic tours: with me, every street corner reveals a surprising story, a funny anecdote, or a well-kept secret.
As soon as we meet (look for my yellow hat) at the foot of the large Christmas tree on Place Kléber (on the street side, not the market side), immerse yourself in a living narrative where historical facts and little stories intertwine. Your gourmet tour takes you through several of the city's Christmas markets.
On the program for your festive immersion:
From Place Kléber to Place Broglie
We head towards Place Broglie, the first location of the Christmas Market since 1570. Here, the festive smells of mulled wine and sauerkraut mingle with beautiful Nativity figures. This will be an opportunity to hear anecdotes about the national anthem and the liberation of Strasbourg in 1944. (We won't stroll around the Place Kléber market, but you'll have plenty of time to do so before we meet.)Rue des Orfèvres and the cathedral
We will take one of the most spectacularly decorated streets: Rue des Orfèvres. We will then head to Strasbourg's Gothic masterpiece: the Cathedral. I will tell you its history and anecdotes. This will be an opportunity to show you a traditional Alsatian pottery shop (Christmas decorations and utensils), a jewel of local craftsmanship.Rue du Maroquin and Place Gutenberg
We will stroll along Rue du Maroquin, one of the most famous streets for its Christmas decorations. We will then walk along the Pont du Corbeau, formerly the “Bridge of Executions”, at the official entrance to the Christmas Market. We will take Rue des Tonneliers to learn about Alsatian wine culture, before reaching Place Gutenberg, named after the inventor of the printing press.Food tasting and the Petite France area
It's time for a gourmet break on Place Saint-Thomas, a quieter market frequented by locals. Enjoy a hot beverage, a tasty gratinated pretzel, along with gingerbread and a few bredele, all local specialties! This will be an opportunity to talk about Protestantism in Alsace. We will then end the tour in the most picturesque district of Strasbourg, Petite France, with the colorful and unexpected anecdote behind its name and the one related to taxes!A personalized ending
We will end our journey in the Petite France district. You will have time (about an hour) to enjoy the Christmas Market on your own or go out for dinner. I will remain available for your questions and my best personalized recommendations. With me, Strasbourg becomes a story that you experience and remember.
