What you can expect

  • Discover the Edible Swedish Forest with Helena
Join Helena, a biologist, PhD and mushroom consultant, on an intimate, small-group foraging experience just outside Stockholm. Wander through a beautiful, mossy Swedish forest and discover seasonal mushrooms, wild plants and berries while learning how to identify and understand the wild foods around you. After foraging, slow down and prepare a delicious forest lunch together from some of your finds — a chance to cook, eat and enjoy the Swedish outdoors at a relaxed pace.

    Learn from a foraging expert
Mushrooms are an important part of the experience, but the Swedish forest has much more to offer. Depending on the season and weather, you may discover a variety of mushrooms, wild berries and edible plants. Helena will help you identify your finds, explain important look-alikes and share practical knowledge about responsible and sustainable foraging.

Every season brings something different. In dry periods or when mushrooms are scarce, the focus naturally shifts towards the many edible plants and berries the forest has to offer. Rather than promising a particular harvest, the experience follows what nature has to offer on the day.

With a small group, there is plenty of time to ask questions, examine your finds up close and get personal guidance from Helena. Her background in biology and extensive experience with mushrooms and foraging allow you to go beyond simply learning names — you will gain practical identification skills and a deeper understanding of the edible forest.

Forage, cook and enjoy a forest lunch
After exploring and foraging, gather around the outdoor kitchen and prepare a delicious forest lunch from your finds. Help clean, prepare and cook some of the ingredients you have discovered, and then sit down to enjoy the meal surrounded by the Swedish forest.

This is a hands-on experience. Ask questions, examine your finds up close, learn identification techniques and take part in preparing the food.

There is also time simply to pause and enjoy being outdoors — the moss beneath your feet, the scent of the forest, the sounds of nature and, depending on the location and season, the possibility of taking a refreshing swim in a nearby lake.

On the way back, the tour passes a beautiful lake where you can choose to stay afterwards for a refreshing swim or visit the popular lakeside café.

Whether you are fascinated by mushrooms, curious about wild plants and berries, or simply want to experience the Swedish forest in a different way, this is an intimate and memorable way to connect with nature, learn from an experienced expert and taste the wild foods of Sweden.
