Your day starts with a drive into the heart of the Rila mountains to reach Belmeken Lake. At 1,900m, this turquoise reservoir offers a pristine alpine landscape. It’s the perfect spot for photos of rugged peaks and high-mountain fresh air before our heritage journey begins.

The Alpine Railway
We reach Avramovo, the highest railway station in the Balkans (1,267m). Here, you board the legendary narrow-gauge retro train. Sit back for a 1.2-hour journey through spiral tunnels and hidden valleys—a route famously ranked by The Guardian as a top European rail experience.

Curated Afternoon: Wine or Water
We have pre-arranged your afternoon activity so you can simply relax and enjoy. Choose your preference:

Boutique Wine Tasting: Visit a local estate in the Thracian Valley for a guided tasting of premium Bulgarian wines, including the bold local Mavrud, paired with regional appetizers. (Available all year).

Thermal Mineral Pools: Dip into the outdoor thermal pools of Velingrad, the “Thermal Capital.” A natural, refreshing way to unwind before the return to Sofia. (Available May – Sept).
