Overview

AlmaDouro was born DE a love for the river and the city. More than walks, we create memories with soul — simple, sincere and true.

Departure DA Douro Marina for a shared tour in a small group (max. 7). Slide under the 6 bridges that connect Porto and Gaia, between the colorful Ribeira, the basements and the sparkling light that leads to the Atlantic.

Over the course OF about 2 hours, we toasted with an informal proof OF 4 Port Wines DA Blend.PT, DE small producers from the Douro, accompanied POR small local snacks. It’s not a technical proof — it’s taste, conversation and landscape in a relaxed atmosphere.

DE day, you feel the rhythm DA the city; at sunset, the light becomes golden and the river gains a magical tone. At any time, the proof is included – all you have DE do is show up and let time slow down.

We received with care, attention and joy, as if we were welcoming friends aboard. The real luxury here is being welcomed and feeling the Douro as if it were yours.

The Serra do Pilar Monastery is an austere 17th century church. It has been classified by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site since 1996. The Church, classified as a National Monument, stands out for its circular plan, covered by an imposing hemispherical vault, surrounded by a balcony and crowned by a lantern. Inside, the gilded and white carved work stands out. It preserves a beautiful cloister, also classified as a National Monument, with a circular vault with a central rib supported by 36 Ionic columns. This Mannerist monastery is a unique example in Portugal, as the church and cloister are circular in plan, a model originating from civil architecture. Its geographical location was crucial in 1809, during the invasions by Napoleonic troops and in 1832-33 as a military base during the liberal struggles. Elevated to the category of fortress, it has since been converted into military barracks
Ponte D. Maria Pia (Pass by)

It was inaugurated on November 4, 1877 and closed on June 24, 1991, having been replaced by Ponte de São João. It is considered, along with the Garabit Viaduct, as the greatest masterpieces created by engineer Gustave Eiffel. At the time of its inauguration, it was the bridge with the largest iron arch in the world. [It has been classified as a National Monument since 1982.
