Overview

  • Cross the bridge and enter a living social experiment. Over a century ago, the Krupp steel dynasty created a garden city on Margarethenhöhe that was intended to improve workers' lives through architecture, fresh air, and strict rules. Accompany a city planner and an architectural detective through this neighborhood and discover how a homogeneous working-class settlement became a diverse community, how residents challenge control from above, and what small architectural details tell about power, change, and cohesion.
