The Poon Hill trek from Pokhara is one of Nepal’s most popular short treks, combining stunning mountain views, traditional villages, and a warm cultural experience. Starting with a drive from Pokhara to Ulleri, this journey takes you deep into the beauty of the Annapurna region.
Day 01: Pokhara – Tikhe Dhunga/Ulleri – Trek to Ghorepani (2,880 m / 9,448 ft)
Your guide will meet you at your hotel in Pokhara for a scenic drive through Nayapul, Birethanti, Hile, and Tikhedhunga. Along the way, you’ll pass through terraced fields, charming villages, and sparkling waterfalls. The road climbs to Ulleri (1,960 m), a traditional hillside village with wonderful views of Annapurna South and Machhapuchhre (Fish Tail).
From Ulleri, your trek begins with a walk through peaceful rhododendron and oak forests, filled with birds and seasonal flowers. After about 4–5 hours of hiking, you’ll reach Ghorepani, a welcoming Magar village set below the famous Poon Hill viewpoint. Overnight stay in a comfortable mountain lodge.
Day 02: Sunrise at Poon Hill – Trek to Ulleri – Return to Pokhara
Start early with a short hike to Poon Hill (3,210 m / 10,531 ft), one of the best viewpoints in Nepal. Watch the sunrise over the Himalayas as the peaks of Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, Annapurna, Machhapuchhre, Lamjung, and Manaslu glow in golden light—a truly unforgettable moment.
After enjoying the views, return to Ghorepani for breakfast, then trek down through forested trails and villages back to Ulleri. From here, a shared jeep or bus will bring you comfortably back to Pokhara, leaving you with lifelong memories of the Annapurna mountains.
