What you can expect
Depart from Santander in a comfortable van and enjoy a scenic 40-minute drive to Santoña, a charming fishing village renowned worldwide for its exquisite anchovies. Along the way, you’ll pass through the marshlands of Santoña, Victoria, and Joyel—one of Cantabria’s most important natural bays. This protected natural park is a haven for birdlife and a delight for nature lovers.
Our first stop is a visit to the traditional anchovy factory Conservas Emilia, where you’ll discover the artisanal process behind Santoña’s famous anchovies and enjoy a tasting of this celebrated local delicacy.
Next, you’ll have the chance to sit back and relax on a one-hour boat cruise across the bay, sailing toward the iconic El Caballo Lighthouse. From the water, enjoy breathtaking views of the rugged cliffs, the vast bay, and the open Cantabrian Sea. Alternatively, if you prefer to stay on land, you can enjoy free time to stroll through the village and explore Santoña at your own pace.
Before returning, we’ll do a short walk up to the historic Fort of Saint Martin enjoy a short panoramic drive through Santoña to see the fishing port, and the seaside promenade—perfect for capturing the essence of this maritime town.
This peaceful, leisurely excursion is suitable for all ages and is especially ideal for those who love coastal landscapes, gastronomy and authentic local culture.
