What you can expect

Tour Description

Discover the true essence of the island of Santiago on a comprehensive experience that combines culture, nature, and local traditions. Departing from the city of Praia, this tour takes you along one of the island's most authentic routes, exploring agricultural valleys, local communities, and Cape Verde's largest banana and coconut plantation.

Start of the Experience

Your day begins with pickup from your hotel in Praia. Next, we will head for the village of São Jorge, passing through one of the island's most fertile agricultural valleys.

  1. São Jorge Agricultural Valley and Botanical Garden

The first stop will be at the Luís Grandvaux Botanical Garden. This site is an important center for the conservation of Cape Verdean flora and is located in an agricultural valley with a significant history in the region's agriculture.

During your visit, you will be able to walk along trails surrounded by endemic species and learn about the work being done to preserve local biodiversity. The São Jorge Valley is also known for its traditional farming practices, which support many families in the community.

  1. Pedra Badejo and Ribeira Seca

We will continue our journey towards the town of Pedra Badejo, making a stop at the Ribeira Seca Dam. Here, you will have the opportunity to learn about some local farming practices up close and observe the way of life of the rural communities that have worked the land for generations.

  1. Visit to the Largest Banana and Coconut Plantation

The highlight of the experience is the arrival at the largest banana and coconut plantation on the island of Santiago.

For approximately 1 hour, you will take a guided tour through the interior of the plantation, walking among vast coconut and banana groves. Visitors will learn about the farming systems used by local farmers and the economic importance of this agricultural region for Cape Verde.

To round off the experience, there will be a tasting of fresh local fruits, such as:

Coconut

Plantains

Passion fruit (in season)

A perfect opportunity to enjoy tropical flavors straight from the plantation.
