What you can expect

After being picked up by your guide, you will depart from your accommodation to discover the wonders of the island of Santiago.

After a one-hour drive through mountains, deep valleys, and inland villages, you will arrive at Serra Malagueta, where you will begin your hike at an elevation of 2,461 feet (750 meters) in the natural park.

After a one-hour hike, during which your guide will provide information about the park's endemic plants and animals, you will begin your 900-meter (2,953-foot) descent to the Gongon Valley from Antena, enjoying the most beautiful view of the island's east coast.

Next, you will arrive at the first house of the local residents, where you will have the opportunity to interact with them and see what daily life is like for these resilient people who live at one of the highest points on the island with limited resources.

Enjoy your picnic surrounded by nature, with mango, banana, and sugarcane plantations, as well as inhame and its typical houses, most of which are now abandoned.

At the end of the hike, we will stop at a local restaurant for a cool drink.
