What you can expect

  • Your experience begins before dawn as you travel toward Cerro Verde National Park, where your guided hike up the Santa Ana Volcano begins. Using headlamps, you’ll hike through forest trails and volcanic terrain during an ascent of about 2 hours, with breaks along the way to rest and enjoy the surroundings. As you reach the summit, you’ll witness a breathtaking sunrise and admire the turquoise crater lake while taking photos and enjoying the peaceful atmosphere. The descent takes nearly the same time, around 2 hours, allowing you to safely return at a comfortable pace.

    Activity level:
Although this experience is suitable for beginners, the hike can be considered moderate. A steady pace will be maintained during the ascent to reach the summit on time and enjoy the sunrise.
Participants should have a basic level of fitness and be comfortable walking uphill for several hours. Hiking shoes and appropriate clothing are recommended.

After the hike, the experience continues with a visit to the beautiful Lake Coatepeque, where you can relax by the water, swim, or enjoy optional activities like kayaking, jetsky or a boat ride. You’ll have time to unwind, take in the views, and recharge after the adventure before heading back, completing a day that perfectly combines hiking, nature, and relaxation.
