What you can expect

Set off on an unforgettable overnight journey to Aydarkul Lake, surrounded by the golden dunes of the Kyzylkum Desert. Discover the heart of Uzbekistan’s nomadic heritage, meet local people, and experience the serenity of desert life. Ride camels through vast landscapes, explore ancient ruins, and fall asleep beneath a breathtaking canopy of stars inside a cozy traditional yurt. This journey blends history, culture, and nature into one unforgettable escape.

Day 1: Samarkand – Nurata – Yanghi-Gazgan
Your adventure begins in Samarkand, heading toward the ancient oasis town of Nurata, once a strategic stop on the Silk Road and said to have been founded by Alexander the Great.

Visit the mysterious fortress ruins attributed to Alexander himself, then explore the Chashma Mosque and its sacred spring — a place of legend and faith. Nearby, marvel at the ancient irrigation channels that have sustained local life for centuries.

Continue your journey into the Kyzylkum Desert, arriving at Yanghi-Gazgan Yurt Camp. Settle into your traditional felt yurt, enjoy a freshly prepared dinner, and gaze at the stars as the desert sky glows with silence and wonder.

Day 2: Aydarkul Lake – Return to Samarkand or Bukhara

Wake up to the peaceful sounds of the desert and enjoy breakfast before setting off on a camel ride across the dunes — the traditional way of travel for generations of nomads.

Travel to the shimmering Aydarkul Lake, a hidden jewel in the desert where the horizon meets blue water. Walk along the lakeshore, meet friendly fishermen, or take a refreshing dip before enjoying a picnic lunch by the water.

After lunch, relax as you return to Samarkand by evening — or continue your Silk Road adventure onward to Bukhara, carrying with you memories of starlit skies, warm hospitality, and the timeless beauty of Uzbekistan’s desert heart.
