What you can expect

  • Join a 2.5-hour cruise on the Grand Canal in Kildare. Stop at the Leinster Aqueduct that carries the Grand Canal over the River Liffey, for a history talk. Then, the barge cruises onto and rises through Digby Lock, which operates today precisely as it did in the 18th century.

Get a unique insight into the life, history, and biodiversity of the Grand Canal as it winds through the County Kildare countryside. Board a lovingly restored traditional canal barge, licensed to carry up to 12 passengers.

Our expert skippers, Ger and Chris, have been taking passengers on Grand Canal journeys for more than 10 years.

Relax in the spacious, comfortable interior with a wood-burning stove, on-board bar service, and outdoor seating areas. Feel free to bring some snacks.
