We warmly invite you to join us for a hike designed to immerse you in the colourful autumn season and cultural heritage of Lapland. This guided hike is best suited for couples, families with older children or friend groups who are nature and outdoor enthusiasts and want to meet the locals. Our two dogs Aira and Siira will accompany us. They love cuddles and are always happy to make new friends. If you want to bring your own dog or are uneasy around dogs, we can leave Aira and Siira at home for the day.
The tour will lead us through different cultural landscapes, including forests, swamps, river sides, and hilltops. We'll share insights into the local environment, land use, and cultural history of the region. Depending on the natural conditions and vegetation, you may have the chance to pick some bilberries (wild blueberries), lingonberries, or mushrooms.
The tour also includes an exquisite picnic by the campfire. We'll prepare local and homemade delicacies for you, including reindeer meat products, rieska bread, and bread cheese. If you have any food allergies or special dietary requirements (vegan, vegetarian, gluten- or lactose intolerance) please let us know in advance so that we can accommodate your needs.
After the hike, you will have the opportunity to unwind in a traditional wood-heated sauna by the lake, and, if you wish, take a refreshing swim. Towels, toiletries, and a selection of sauna scents are provided. The adjacent changing and relaxation room is equipped with an electric kettle for tea, as well as board games, books, and a peaceful view over the lake.
This tour requires a basic level of fitness and some experience walking on natural, uneven terrain rather than maintained trails. Proper outdoor clothing, sunglasses, and high-quality waterproof hiking boots or rubber boots are essential.
