Auttiköngäs is one of Lapland’s hidden gems — a nature trail winding through old-growth forests, wooden bridges, and river valleys before reaching its crown jewel: the thundering 16-meter Auttiköngäs waterfall. With Arctic GM, this is more than just a hike — it’s a heritage-rooted journey into Lapland’s wilderness.
As Lapland’s Original Aurora Hunters™, our family has lived under the Arctic skies for 20 generations since the 1600s. Trusted by over 50,000 guests worldwide, Arctic GM is one of Lapland’s most respected tour companies. We keep groups small (max 8 guests) and operate fully in-house with certified, first-aid trained guides, ensuring safety, comfort, and authenticity throughout your adventure.
Your day begins with pickup from your accommodation in Rovaniemi in a brand-new 2025 Ford Tourneo luxury 4×4 van. After a scenic drive of 82 km, you’ll arrive at the Auttiköngäs Nature Trail.
The hike (approx. 4–6 km) leads you through untouched Arctic forest, across wooden bridges, and along flowing rivers before reaching the breathtaking Auttiköngäs waterfall — a natural cascade plunging 16 meters into the canyon.
Midway, your guide prepares a wilderness barbecue with hot drinks and grilled sausages. Relax by the fire, take in the silence, and enjoy the beauty of Lapland’s nature before continuing the trail.
This hike is suitable for most visitors, though the terrain may be challenging for children under 8 years old.
