Ride Through Time: Town Cycling Adventure – Long Course
Join us for a three-hour cycling adventure through Tsuwano, a historic town nestled in a valley of green mountains and unspoiled nature. Riding comfortable e-bikes, you’ll travel not only through beautiful landscapes but also across centuries of history, discovering the essence of “old Japan.”
Our journey begins in the heart of Tsuwano, where the atmosphere still recalls the days of the samurai. As you cycle through traditional streets and quiet alleys, you’ll feel as though you’ve stepped back into the Edo period. The highlight of the experience is the Hyakkeizu, a collection of one hundred paintings designated as Japan’s National Heritage. These works vividly capture life in Tsuwano at the end of the Edo era—its events, celebrations, natural surroundings, and the everyday moments of townspeople. Through them, we will connect past and present, deepening our understanding of the town’s roots.
From the main district, we’ll ride toward sacred grounds and shrines, where ancient traditions are still cherished today. Leaving the well-known tourist paths behind, we’ll discover hidden spots that most visitors never see: quiet rice fields, gentle waterfalls, and shaded forest trails. Each stop adds a new layer to the story of Tsuwano, from the ruins of its once-mighty castle to the practice of horseback archery and even a thousand-year-old tree that has silently witnessed centuries of change.
This tour is more than sightseeing—it’s about experiencing the spirit of Tsuwano and its people. By the end of the ride, you won’t just have visited a town; you’ll have connected with its heritage, traditions, and natural beauty in a way that feels truly special.
